On August 21st, UCF Downtown was honored with the Downtown Orlando Partnership’s Golden Brick Award of Excellence. Through its positive impact and contributions to the downtown Orlando area, UCF Downtown has “defined [a] new standard for partnership,” says Josh Wyche, executive director of the DOP. The annual award series recognizes projects in downtown Orlando that positively impact the community through extraordinary achievements.
The downtown campus, a partnership between UCF and Valencia College, serves more than 7,000 students who live, learn and work in downtown Orlando. The campus offers more than 20 degree programs, specifically chosen for the downtown campus to enhance the student population’s ability to gain hands-on work experience.
“Students enrolled at UCF Downtown have access to the latest technology, unparalleled academic advising and student support,” says UCF Downtown’s interim assistant provost, Ross Wolf. Technology and support including a mock courtroom, computer labs and a maker space are available to support students and academic programs downtown. “We are already having a big impact,” Wolf says, “and are looking forward to continuing to play an important role in the growth of downtown Orlando and throughout our region.”
