Each hurricane season, the Department of Housing and Residence Life tracks storm forecasts. If a hurricane or other severe weather event threatens campus, residents are encouraged, when possible, to return to their homes before the storm approaches. If students are unable to return home, they may be required to report to a designated ride-out location during the storm. While all official campus updates regarding hurricane season come from UCF and UCF Emergency Management, UnionWest Student Housing provides year-round hurricane measures and safety tips on their website. It’s a good idea to review these tips in advance and be prepared for severe weather.
Residents and their families are reminded to stay calm as the campus prepares for any severe weather conditions that may accompany hurricane season, which runs through November 30th. Visit the UCF Office of Emergency Management website for more on hurricane preparedness.
